Mr. Cecil C. Lynn, 74, of Portland died Monday, March 1, 1999, at the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. A native of Montrose and a Portland resident for all his life, he was an U. S. Army veteran of World War II where he won the Purple Heart and four Bronze Stars. He was a retired farmer, a member of the New Bethel Assembly God and a thirty-second degree Mason and member of the Portland Masonic Lodge #499. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Eula Mae Ferrel Lynn; four brothers, two sisters, and two grandsons, Brandon Cecil and John Edward Lynn. Survivors include his wife, Lear Lee Bonnette Lynn of Portland; a son, Johnny Edward Lynn of Portland; two daughters, Rita Carroll Chandler of Portland and Sharon Lynn Jones of Montrose; a sister, Elvie Cotton of Lake Village; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with Revs. Dan Bonnette and Bob Davis officiating. Pallbearers were David Lynn, Allen Jackson, Peter Kniss, David Burns, Tommy McArthur and Randy Wrzesinki. Honorary pallbearers were Kenny Lynn, Harvey Adams, J. L. Knight, Dewey Beavers and Reed Breedlove. Burial followed services at the Montrose Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Montrose Cemetery Fund, c/o Angie Lynn, Lynn Road, Portland, AR 71663.
