Myrtle Josephine Wagner, 79, died on October 12, 2013 in Newport, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Brisco and Ruth McQuay Coots, formerly of Cash and Jonesboro.

Mrs. Wagner was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and a faithful, lifelong member of Swifton Church of Christ. She was active in school and community activities and worked alongside her husband, J.D. Wagner, engaged in the family farm operation for nearly 40 years before his death in 1991. Mrs. Wagner was a virtuous woman, always meeting the needs of others before her own, while molding and influencing the lives of so many.

Mrs. Wagner is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.D. Wagner; a loved son, Laddy Lashay Wagner; and one brother, Clyde Coots.

She is survived by son, Brian Wagner of Tuckerman; and two daughters, Ginger Carlyle of Newport and Debra Doyle of Searcy. Further surviving Mrs. Wagner are nine grandchildren; Jeff Doyle, Chad O'dell, Brannon Doyle, Shalyn Hahn, Brittany Peacock, Courtney Paschal, Kassi Doyle, Benji Carlyle and Jill Brunner; in addition to 17 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Wagner's surviving siblings are Dorothy Hawkins of Rock Island, Illinois, Helen Smith, Evelyn Riggs, Norman Coots, Joyce Cummins, Ann Hudson, Dale Coots, and Janet Dotson, all of Jonesboro. She also leaves behind the Wagner family in the Jonesboro and Rogers area, as well as, extended family and a host of good friends.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jimmy O'dell, Chad O'dell, Cody O'dell, Ronnie Doyle, Jeff Doyle, Brannon Doyle, Benji Carlyle, and her loving son, Brian Wagner.
Visitation will be Monday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at Swifton Church of Christ on Tuesday, October 15, at 10:00 a.m. with Robert Templeton officiating. Burial will be in Swifton Cemetery.
