Charles W.P. Wiechert passed away peacefully on Friday, 9/7/12 in Lincoln, NE at the age of 89. He was born February 15, 1923 on the family farm near Emerald, to August and Ella (Loos) Wiechert and that remained his home the remainder of his life. Charles was a first generation American who graduated from Teachers College High School, Lincoln, NE. On September 9, 1944 he was united in marriage with Dorothy Haase. He carried on the dairy farming tradition of his family and became an active community leader on school boards, 4-H clubs, Lancaster County Zoning Appeal Board, Airfield Task Force, Lincoln-Lancaster County Planning Commission, Extension Service Board, County Fair Board, Emerald Farmers Co-op, Denton Community Historical Society, county and state Farm Bureau Federation, Pleasant Dale Volunteer Fire Department and St. Paul United Methodist Church of Lincoln.
