Ruth Henderson Price, 87, a devoted mother, teacher and friend to many, passed away on October 9, 2013 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Ruth was the daughter of Reverend Marion Charles and Ollie Maude Henderson and was born in Asheville NC in 1925.
While spending much of her childhood across North Carolina towns as the daughter of a Methodist Minister, she called Myrtle Beach home for the last 50 years. Ruth graduated from High Point College in 1945 and later attended Duke University. She spent a four decade career in the classroom as a teacher and loved every day. Her teaching carried over into the Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for 40 years. After retiring from the Horry County School system, she could be found daily at Priceless Desserts helping her daughter, Paige in her Bakery Business.
She married the late Harry Clay Price in 1955 and they raised three children, Harry "Clay" Price Jr., William "Kyle" Price and Marian "Paige" Price.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her brothers Marion Charles Henderson and William "Bill" Henderson. Surviving are her three children, daughter in-law Carol Price and three grandchildren, Lauren "Hayden" Price, William "Graham" Price and Alexandra "Hannah-Paige" Price.
The family will receive friends at McMillan-Small Funeral Home, Friday October 11, 2013 from 5:00-7:00.
Services are on October 12, 2013 at First United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach, SC at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. Robert C. Wilkes, Jr. and Rev. Jonathan Harris officiating. Burial will follow the service at Southern Palms Memorial Gardens in North Myrtle Beach, SC.
