Paul W. Heney
A memorial service for Paul Heney of Petaluma will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Petaluma.
Mr. Heney, 93, died Saturday at his home in Petaluma. He was a native of Eureka and was raised in Humboldt County and graduated from Eureka High School, where he was president of the senior class.
He graduated from University of California at Berkeley in 1916 with a bachelor's degree in animal husbandry. He played baseball at the university and also was a member of Sigma Phi Sigma fraternity. After he graduated he took a job as manager for Ordway Brothers, livestock dealers in Petaluma.
Mr. Heney was a prominent livestock dealer and wool buyer for many years.
In July 1917, Mr. Heney married college sweetheart Emilie E. Vasye in San Rafael. In 1918 he enlisted in the Army field artillery and upon his discharge returned to Petaluma where he lived the rest of his life.
