Susan Woods was born on November 30, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Don T. and Christel L. Woods.
Susan graduated from the University of Illinois in 1954. She married William Wayne Fromm on July 2, 1955, in LaGrange, Illinois.
Susan taught English and Spanish for 7 years. After moving to Urbana in 1968, she earned her real estate license. She became a real estate broker and managed the Urbana office of Dependable Real Estate. She retired in 2001 with a life membership in the Champaign County Association of Realtors.
Sue was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority in college and remained active after graduation. She was President of the local alumnae association. She enjoyed meeting with her church circle and singing in the choir of the First United Methodist Church in Urbana. She was also active in the Champaign Ladies Red Hat Club and CLIC (the Champaign Ladies Investment Club). Sue loved camping, water aerobics, fishing, reading, and knitting.
Susan Fromm, age 74, passed away on June 20, 2007, at 6:35 p.m. at her home in Urbana, Illinois.
She is survived by her husband, William; her daughter, Deborah (Ken) Rippelmeyer of Seattle, Washington; and her brother, Ron (Ruth) Woods of Asheville, North Carolina. She was predeceased by her parents.
Arrangements were by and Visitation was at Morgan Memorial Funeral Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy, IL 61874, on Monday, June 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral service was held at the First United Methodist Church, 304 S. Race St., Urbana, IL 61801, on Tuesday, June 26, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. John Sims officiating. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana.
Donations were requested to the First United Methodist Church, or Carle Hospice, 206A W. Anthony Drive, Champaign, IL 61822.
