Ms. Ruby Jean Miller was born on January 14, 1947 in McLennan County to the parentage of James Jay Johnson and Venora Walker, Johnson, who preceded her in death.
She graduated from Riesel High School in 1965. She was an outstanding athlete throughout her High School Career.
She joined church at an early age and was a member of Springhill United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Usher Board, Communion Steward, UMC Women, Choir, PPRL Committee, Trust Board and Kitchen Aid. She loved to minister to young adults and most of all, Ruby was known as the "Babysitter". She loved kids and the more kids that filled her house, the happier she was. She had a nickname for every child she would babysit.
She was a loving person and she touched everyone's heart that she came in contact with.
She leaves to mourn her passing: two sons, Robert Miller, Jr. (Sonia) of Huber Heights, Ohio and Reginald Miller (Sherry) of Hewitt, Texas; eight grandchildren, Sienna Miller of Lubbock, Texas, Monique Miller of Hewitt, Texas, Merci Miller of Huber Heights, Ohio, Faith Miller of Huber Heights, Ohio, R.J. Miller (Squirt), Kristian Gonzalez, Steven Gonzalez, and Ashonte Hartsfield (Ace) all of
Hewitt, Texas; two great,grandchildren, Tiyana Smith and Bryce Hartsfield; four brothers, Leon (Karen) of Riesel, Texas; Gene (Ruby) of Dallas, Texas; and Washington Carver of Mart, Texas and Billy James Johnson Jr died in 2009; eight sisters, Rosie (Dr. Andrew Isaacs) of Venice, Florida, Erma (late Sammie Widemon) of Dallas, Texas, Gwendolyn Riptoe of Riesel, Texas, Shirley Whitaker (Alabama), Gertrude Douglas, Helen (Richard Bible), Mildred (Davis Dodd), and Beverly Haynes all of Waco, Texas; six adopted brothers and sisters, Donald Carpenter (Rhonda), Larry Carpenter (Joyce), Jimmy Carpenter (Sandy), Bertha Talley (Tony), Debra Carpenter (Alvin), Charlene Carpenter and two preceded in death, Glen Edward Carpenter and Joe Robert Carpenter; four sisters-in-law and two brothers,in,law, Margaret (Willie Gaines), Francis Armstead, Calvin Fears all of Dallas, Texas, Janice Newton
and Elvia Armstead both of San Antonio, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, devoted relatives and friends.
