CANDELA Frank P., died on Saturday, September 7, 2013, following a brief illness. He was 76. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he lived in Ridgewood before moving to Haskell. A veteran of the U.S.M.C., he served during peacetime. Survivors include his loving wife Barbara Barrett, and his six devoted, loving children: Ann Vroegindewey and her husband Richard, Peter Candela and his wife Patricia, Bernadette Davidson and her husband James, Patricia Pisacane and her husband Anthony, James Candela and his wife Melissa, Joseph Candela and his wife Melissa. A son, Stephen Candela, died in 1971. Also surviving are thirteen cherished grandchildren: Rebecca, Kimberly, Heather, Rachel, Nathan, Taylor, Lexi, Abigail, Caitlin, Angelina, Gabriella, Cassandra, and Emily. Two brothers: Nicholas Candela and Louis Candela, and two sisters: Angelina Candela and Clare Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 10th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday. September 11th at 10 AM at Church of the Guardian Angel, 320 Franklin Turnpike, Allendale. Interment will follow in Long Island National Cemetery Farmingdale, LI. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Frank's memory may be made to the: American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004.
