He was born on August 7, 1952 in Auburn, California to Edward Read and Rosa Ethridge Read.
Loyd was a United States Navy Veteran.
He is survived by his parents, Edward and Rosa Read of Carthage; sisters, Jeannie Pritchard and husband Rob of Carthage, Rosa Pfeifle and husband Dave of Webb City; brother, Danny Read and wife Donna of Joplin; aunt, Mary Powell of Webb City and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service with full military rites will be held on Saturday October 5, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Webb City Cemetery with Reverend Bob Easton officiating.
Services are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City.
