Mabel Yancey

Mabel Galliher Jarrett Yancey, 82, of Catawba County, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation in Statesville.

Born Oct. 29, 1919, in Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late John and Lillie Gardner Galliher.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lander Jarrett.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Newton and a homemaker.

In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Clois Mitcham; and three brothers, Flake, George and Clarence Galliher.

Survivors include her husband, Clem Yancey of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Aaron Hamrick, and Nancy and Daniel Gardner, all of Lincolnton; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Alice and Sam Hill of Forest City; son and daughter-in-law, Rayford and Carol Crawley of Lincolnton; stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, J.C. and Rachel Yancey of Charlotte; grandchildren and spouses, Stephen Gardner, Robert and Dana Hoyle, Michael and Samantha Hoyle, Amy and Scott Coffey, and Holly and Jim Ferguson; stepgrandchildren, Marcy and Monty Dunlap, and Brad Yancey; great-grandchildren, Rachel and Gracen Hoyle; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosie Adams, and Betty and Bruce Dagenhart, all of Statesville, and Muriel and Junior Graham of Salisbury; three brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Marie Galliher of Indian Trail, Kenneth and Nancy Galliher of Beaver Town, Pa., and Bill and Shirley Galliher of Statesville.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dr. Larry Yoder will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service on Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church.

The Yancey family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton.
