Illustrator of children's books. Eloise Wilkin illustrated more than 50 books for Little Golden Books, and more than 100 books in all. She graduated from what is now Rochester Technical Institute in 1923, at the age of 19, and she married Sidney Wilkin in 1930. She often used her own children as models for her illustrations, and later used her grandchildren. Many of her first illustrations were for school books, but in 1944, she was given a contract with Little Golden Books. Most of these books are now considered classics. Over the years, she sometimes updated the illustrations to represent changing fashions and mores. She also designed dolls to be made by Vogue Dolls, Inc. and by Madame Alexander. She died of heart failure following surgery for cancer.
