Louise (Ward) Powell 91 of Amarillo passed away Saturday, February 15, 2020.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2020 at the First Baptist Church in Wellington with Rev. Stuart Smith, chaplain of Encompass Hospice and Rev. Wayne Sheffield, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Wellington. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.

Pallbearers are her grandsons Shawn Barbour, Chad Powell, Jason Powell, Michael Chad Saterfield, Weston Powell and Carson Vanlandingham.

She was born on October 29, 1928 in Wellington, to William Raymond and Alice Mae Bruce Ward. She married Neil Powell on June 1, 1947 in Wellington. He preceded her in death in 2012.

Louise was valedictorian of her graduating class in 1946 from Wellington High School. She worked at Steve Owens Creamery in Wellington where she met her husband. They moved to Tulia in 1963 where she worked for the Swisher County Tax office from 1971 to 1993. In 2009 they moved to Amarillo.

She was a faithful member of Arden Road Baptist Church in Amarillo.

Louise was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Vicky Hamilton in 2015, a great grandson Kaylem Saterfield and her sister Tommie Watts.

She is survived by 2 daughters Carol McRoberts of Canyon and Debbie Ervin and her husband Fred of Amarillo; 3 sons Dean Powell and his wife Norma of Amarillo, Randy Powell and his wife Alana of Lubbock and Gary Powell and his wife Lorna of Vernon; 2 brothers John Henry Ward and Bruce Ward and his wife Lana both of Wellington; 5 sisters Delores Patterson, Vera Huntress and her husband Tom, Glenna Fourmentin and her husband Richard and Adelle Barnett and her husband Johnny all of Wellington and Sue Berry and her husband Jim of Amarillo; 15 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

The family suggests that memorials be made to Encompass Hospice, 2505 Lakeview Dr., Suite 104, Amarillo, TX 79109.
