Richard Marvin Mayberry, Jr., 61, of Route 2, Evington, died Tuesday morning at Lynchburg General Hospital. His wife was the late Betty Glenn Mayberry.
Born in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Richard Marvin Mayberry, Sr. and Rachel Hendricks Mayberry. He was a retired employee of Kerns Bakery and a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda M. Richardson of Evington; two brothers, Norman L. Mayberry of Spout Springs and Earl L. Mayberry of Lynchburg; a sister, Kate M. Perdue of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Jeffrey S. Richardson, Janice G. Goodman and Jeannie L. Goodman, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter Carolyn M. Goodman.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fort Hill Memorial Park by the Rev. L. Carlton Lyon. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 16.
