Alice was born on Aug. 25, 1915, in Rock Island, a daughter of Earl Betts and Florence Jenkins Betts. She married Darrell Liedtke on Nov. 23, 1939, in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 1981. Mrs. Liedtke worked as an insurance clerk for the Bituminous Insurance Co., Rock Island, for 18 years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of South Park Presbyterian Church, Rock Island; Kings Daughters, and the Eastern Star. Alice volunteered at Trinity Rock Island for over 25 years. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and was still waiting for her Cubbies to win a World Series. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and playing Triominos with her daughters.
Survivors include her children, David (Darlene) Liedtke, Jacksonville, Fla., Barbara Magerkurth, Patricia Fairman, and Pamela Hicks, all of Bettendorf; grandchildren, Kelly Pue, Bradley Magerkurth, Brian Magerkurth, Amy Bogaards, Bill Fairman, Shane Hicks, Kristi Rathmann and Tammy Hicks; and seven great-grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darrell; sons-in-law, William Fairman, John Hicks and James Magerkurth; a grandson, Sean Craig Hicks; and a brother, George Betts.
