Lyle Eugene "Gene" Armstrong, 59, passed away on Feb. 6, 2005 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Gene was born on Dec. 22, 1945 in Pocatello to Lyle C. and Betty M. Armstrong. After serving four years in the U.S. Air Force, he made a career as a reputable sales representative for various automobile dealerships in Pocatello and Boise. Gene was the #1 Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed other sports as well. He loved all activities that included having his friends and loved ones with him. Gene was preceded in death by his father Lyle C. Armstrong, a nephew and a grandson. Gene is survived by three sons, Michael, Steven, and Anthony (Amanda); one daughter, Tracy; and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother Betty M. Armstrong; brother Kevin (Lisa) Armstrong; and sisters Diane Sampson, Marcene (Bruce) Barsalou, and Jill Ragland; and is well loved by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005 at Relyea Funeral Chapel. Friends may call to visit with the family on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Relyea Funeral Chapel. A graveside dedication will occur on Friday, Feb. 11, 2005 at the Restlawn Cemetery in Pocatello. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to help towards medical and final expenses.
