"Browneville Briefs...Mrs. Catherine SKIPPER, wife of William SKIPPER, died Friday morning, and was buried yesterday in Columbus cemetery." [Columbus (GA) Enquirer-Sun newspaper, Tuesday, 10 APR 1888, p. 4. The name of Browneville was changed in 1889 to Phenix City, which was in Lee County until 1923.]
