Rose Marie Stern came into world on 17 Feb 1917 as the third child to parents; Adolph William Stern and Francine "Fannie" Haber Stern, both of whom were born in Romania. Her mother Fannie died on 1st of Feb 1920 from influenza just shy of Rose's 3rd birthday. Rose's siblings; Natalie "Nettie", Janet and William Adolph, were old enough to help take care of themselves and their father. Not long after Fannie's death, her father took Rose to live with the Moshe Slossy family in Des Moines, Iowa. Mrs. Slossy was Fannie's sister and was very happy to include Rose with her own children and family. She grew up happy and although cousins—not siblings— she was treated as their daughter. Rose Marie became the beloved wife of Alvin Edelman in Chicago. Three children were born to this union. Rose Marie is survived by sons, Stephen David and Leon Frederick. Her husband, Alvin, passed away on 7th Dec 2006. Their daughter, Marilyn Frances Snyder passed away in 2013, following medical complications in Sacramento, California.
