Daniel Philips "Dan" Smith, 60 years of age, of Richmond, Kentucky, was one of three people that were fatally shot during a robbery at the ABC Gold Games and More Pawn Shop in Danville, Kentucky on Friday morning, September 20th, 2013.
Dan was born in Alliance, Ohio on March 12th, 1953, son of Dorothy Futhey Smith and the late Robert Benton Smith. He was a self-employed businessman and a United States Marine Corp. veteran of the Vietnam War. He attended the Faith Covenant Church in Lexington, Kentucky.
Dan was survived by his loving wife, Sarah Smith; his mother, Dorothy Smith; eight children and twenty-five grandchildren: Robert E. Khourie (and Misty) and their children, Bella, Scarlett, and Violet; Jonathan N. Khourie (and April) and their children, Jordan and Katie; Crystal A. Keepes (and Christopher)and their children, Kimberly, Bethany, Megan, and Brandon; William D. Khourie and his son, Dylan; Heather M. Smith-Hurt (and Earl) and their children: John, David, Jaiden, and Madison; Karen R. Khourie and her children, Macey, Jadyn, and Owen; Stephanie L. Dowd (and Frank) and their children, Cody, Zack, Alyssa, Frankie, Tyler, and Travis; and Lisa J. Khourie and her children, Jillian and Duke; three brothers: Robert Benton Smith Jr., Rev. Benton Steven Smith (and Marguerite), and Roger Wayne Smith (and Lynn); one sister: Elizabeth Carol Jennings (and Charles); one brother-in-law: Robert P. Ransom II (and Jody); and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends who mourn his passing.
Visitations were held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25th, 2013 at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home in Richmond, Kentucky.
Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 26th, 2013 at the Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
