Found in the Wilmington Morning Star of July 17, 1880, Page 1:
- Fayetteville Examiner:...Yesterday morning Mr. John T. Wright, of Gray's Creek township, in this county, while walking in the road which leads to Gray's Creek landing, on the Cape Fear river, fell and died a few hundred yards from the river. When found he was lying in the road and life was extinct.
The Daily Review of July 16th adds that "He had been complaining for several days of a severe pain in the head." The Weekly Star (Wilmington, NC) of July 23, 1880, Page 1 states:
Fell Dead.
Mr. William Alderman, writing us from Gray's Creek, Cumberland county, under date of July 14th, informs us that John T. Wright fell dead while walking in the public road that morning, about 10 o'clock, near the residence of H.B. Butler. No foul play was used. Mr. Wright was about 65 years of age.
