James C. "Jack" Canada, 83, Greenfield, passed away December 1, 2002, in Medical Lodge North in Pittsburg, Kan.
He was born March 2, 1919, in Nelson, Mo. to Iva Canada and Emma Canada. He grew up in Exeter, Mo., and graduated from Exeter High School. Jack was united in marriage to Bette Sherrell, March 3, 1942. He proudly served in the U. S. Army from 1942 to 1945, during World War II.
Jack moved to Greenfield, Mo., in 1949. He was a funeral director and owned and operated the Canada Funeral Home in Greenfield for 35 years. He was an active member in many clubs and organizations in this community. Jack will be always remembered for his kindness, generosity, and wonderful outlook on life.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Bette, in 1999.
He is survived by his daughter, Jackie Kelly, of Springfield, Mo.; a son, Jamie Canada and his wife, Becky, of Pittsburg, Kan.; granddaughter, Candice Stark and her husband, Bill, of Branson West; three grandsons, Casey Canada and his wife, Amy, of Springfield, Mo., Jeremy Canada and Cody Canada of Pittsburg, Kan.; twin great-granddaughters, Hayden and Hannah Stark.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather who dedicated his life to serving others.
Services will be 2 pm Thursday, December 5, 2002, in the Greenfield Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gene Clack officiating. Burial will be in the Greenfield Cemetery with full military honors conducted by Greenfield American Legion Post #47.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 pm Wednesday in the funeral chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church in Greenfield, Mo., where Jack was a faithful member.
Services are under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel, Greenfield.
