Walter Wiebe, of Ferndale, died Sunday, September 30, 2001, at St. Francis Rest Home in Bellingham. He was 83.

Walter was born on April 8, 1918, in Rickreall, Oregon to Bernard D. and Katharine (Buhler) Wiebe. He grew up in Shafter, California.

He was in Civilian Public Service from 1942 to 1946. After being released from Civil Public Service, he married Luella Goossen on February 9, 1947, in Birch Bay, Washington.

He worked for Oscar Ebe and Sons for nearly 40 years. He enjoyed helping his children, grand-children and friends. He also enjoyed working in his shop and garden. He was a Godly father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He will be dearly missed.

Walter was preceded in death by his wife, November 30, 1998, also by his father, mother, one brother Elmer Wiebe - and 2 sisters, Edna Wiebe and Esther Karber.

He is survived by two sons: Lee Wiebe and wife Janice of Ferndale, Bill Wiebe and wife Nancy of Ferndale, one daughter Janice Norton and husband Ben of Hong Kong, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three brothers -John Wiebe of Custer, Harry Wiebe of Dalles, Oregon, Pete Wiebe of Oregon, three sisters: Anne Harms of Ulysses, Kansas, Mary Helen Sheldon of Nevada and Betty Heide of Kirkland.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 5, 1:00 PM, at Birch Bay Community Church with Pastor Jim Totzke officiating.

A Graveside Service will follow at Enterprise Cemetery, in Ferndale. Memorial Donations may be made to Mexican Missionaries c/o Birch Bay Bible Community Church, 7039 Jackson Road, Blaine, WA 98230.
