Mary "Mai" Louise Abington, 83, of Baton Rouge LA, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2013 at Kinder Retirement and Nursing Home in Kinder, Louisiana.

Her funeral service were held Thursday, September 12, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Many, LA., Father Joe Martina of St. John the Baptist officiated. Burial followed the funeral at Many Cemetery.

Mai was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on October 30, 1929.

She graduated from high school at St. Vincent's Academy, Shreveport, LA and graduated with honors as "salutatorian" of her class. She continued her education at Northwestern State University, in Natchitoches, LA, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, English and a minor in Speech. While in college, she received many other honors; she was a member of Alpha Psi Omega Dramatic Fraternity, a member of Delta Zeta sorority, selected as "sweetheart" for Lambda Zeta Fraternity, and she was also selected as a "Potpourri Beauty," and a member of the Potpourri College yearbook staff.

Mai was married to Douglas Crews Abington on January 21, 1951 and was married for 29 years.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Warren Meadows Funeral Home.
