He married Miss Avalena May "Buck" of Bowesmont on November 22nd 1900. To this happy union 4 daughters were born, which have blessed them with many grandchildren.
Harry taught school for 8 years in Pembina County before he work for the United States Custom Service as Deputy Collector at Portal for 26 years and then transferred back to Pembina as Assistant Collector until he retired.
He was raised a Master Mason on April 9, 1912 in Portal Lodge No. 84, Portal ND. He was appointed to the Grand Line on 1931. During his time on the Grand Line he affiliated with Pembina Lodge No. 2 and kept his membership in both lodges. He steadily moved up the chairs until being elected the 51st Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of North Dakota in 1939.
