George Alfred Haynes, 80, of East Ridge, died Tuesday May 4, 2004, in a local hospital.
A lifelong resident of East Ridge, he was a Veteran of W.W. II, serving in the U.S. Army and was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorena Kennedy Haynes.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Haynes; son, Bo Haynes, Old Fort, Tenn.; daughter, Elizabeth Coffman, East Ridge; brother, Albert Haynes, Soddy-Daisy; sister, Callie Ownbey, Apison; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Forgey officiating.
Interment will be in Old McDonald Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Marion Haynes, Findley Haynes, Melvin Haynes, G.M. Peckinpaugh, Mack Ownbey and Jerry Ownbey.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.
