James N Kopvlas was born on Oct 26, 1897 in Greece. There is limited information on his family, but it is known that he had 2 brothers and a sister. When he was 26, James married Harriet Trina Marie Sorenson, daughter of Martin and Ane Sorensen. James immigrated to the United States in 1910. His name in Greece was Dimitrius Niklos Georgakopvlas, but his name changed in Wisconsin to James Kopvlas. Initially, James lived in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, in 1930.

JAMES M Kopvlas Obituary: Neenah--James M Kopvlas, 57, 605 Maple Street, died unexpectedly at 10:45 Wednesday morning. He was born October 26, 1897 in Greece and came to Boston Massachussetts at 15 years of age. In 1924 he moved to Neena and married. He ran a restaurant in Neena for some time but had been recently employed as a chef at an Appleton restaurant.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at St Paul's English Lutheran Church by the Reverend Samuel H Roth, pastor. Burial will be at Oak HIll Cemetery. Friends may call at Westgor Funeral home from 2 o'clock Friday afternoon until Saturday morning and from noon to the time of services at the church. Survivors are his widow, one daughter, Mrs Armin Paff, Greenville, SC and one grandchild.
