Son of Roy and Margaret (Dunne) Greene. Graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1936, then attended Peru State Teachers College. He taught agriculture for 10 years in Burwell. The family then moved to Grand Island where he was the assistant scout executive for the Boy Scouts of America. He worked in the steel building business until his retirement in 1981. After retirement, he and his wife spent their winters in Brownsville, Texas, and their summers at their home at Lake Ericson in Wheeler county, Nebraska.
