A resident of Chatham, Earl Louis PRICE passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham on Friday, June 24, 2005 in his 80th year. Born in Saint Thomas, son of the late Norman and Cora McINTYRE) PRICE. Beloved husband and best friend of 60 years to Betty (SANDERS) PRICE. Dear father of Paula CLARKE and her husband Gordon and the late Pamela Eileen PRICE (1994.) Grandfather of Karen CLARKE. Brother of the late Lois and Murray JONES. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and greatnephews.
Earl served in World War 2 as a Pilot Officer with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He worked for Bell Canada for 42 years, retiring as Section Manager-Business Offices-Chatham/Sarnia in 1988 and was a member of Telephone Pioneers. He was an avid golfer, curler, bridge player and enjoyed many years of cottage life with family and Friends. Earl was a Charter Member and Past President of Saint Thomas Jaycees, Past President of Chatham Chamber of Commerce, Charter Director and Past President of Junior Achievement of Chatham, Past Director of Junior Achievement of Canada, Past President and Honourary Life Member of Chatham Grani te Club, Former Director and Member of Chatham Rotary Club, Past Chair of Chatham Industrial Commission, Past Chair of Public General Hospital Board of Trustees, Co-Convener of the Brain Tumour Foundation Support Group-Chatham-Kent, volunteer driver for the Canadian Cancer Society, Past Chairman of the United Way, Past Director of the Active Lifestyles Centre, Chatham, Honourary Member of Saint John's Ambulance, Chatham, Recipient of Seagram's Five Star Achievement Award for outstanding contributions to curling 1986-87. Family will receive Friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Sunday from 2-4: 30 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service at the Funeral Home on Monday, June 27, 2005 at 4 p.m. with Mr. John ANDERSON officiating. Interment in Sandy Lake Cemetery, Lakehurst, Ontario.
