OBITUARY-
Frances Elizabeth Granholm, age 86, of Austin, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at St. Mark's Lutheran Home.
She was born March 20, 1915, in Austin, to Andrew and Celia (Guttormson) Erickson.
She graduated from Austin High School on May 29, 1932. In 1933, she graduated from teachers training class and began teaching in Glenville at the age of 18. She also taught in rural schools in Brownsdale and Lyle until 1940.
She was married to Floyd Granholm on June 26, 1935, in Austin, where they continued to live. They had two children, Floyd Allen, born in 1946; and Darleen Cecelia, born in 1949.
Frances taught piano in her home for 22 years. She was also active in church and volunteer work, especially Kinship, an organization to benefit children between the ages of six and 18. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church until transferring her membership to Our Saviors Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and participated in Bible studies and women's activities.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Floyd Allen and Gina Granholm, of Lowell, Mich.; daughter and son-in-law, Darleen and Mark Ferrin, of Vadnais Heights, Minn.; sister, Irene Stanton, of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, in 1991, and two brothers.
Service: 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church with the Rev. Glenn L. Monson officiating.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and on Friday, at the church, one hour before the service.
Interment: Private interment at Oakwood Cemetery.
The family prefers memorials.
