Delores Birkey age 76 of Wellington died Friday, August 30, 2013 in Childress.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 2, 2013 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Derwin Comer, retired Baptist minister of Oklahoma City and Rev. Tory Giddens, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Quail Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home.
Delores was born on December 17, 1936 in Borger to Troy B. and Annie Mae McEachern Johnson. She married John Birkey, Sr. on August 1, 1959 in Borger. He died in 1994.
She was a retired teacher's aide and secretary for the Wellington Schools where she worked 30 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Her survivors include a son John Birkey, Jr. and his wife Janet of Clovis; 2 daughters Cheryl Brown of Garland and Leslie Birkey of Chidress; a sister Janette Estes of Wister, OK.; and 4 grandchildren Jennifer Birkey Chick, Justin Pickard, Johnna Pickard, and John Edward Birkey.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Wellington Opportunity Center, P.O. Box 122, Wellington, Tx. 79095 or the Quail Cemetery, P.O. Box 98, Quail, TX. 79251
