Merlin C. Vaughan departed this life on August 28, 2013 at Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicville, VA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Essie R. Vaughan.

He attended school in Winterpock, VA. He drove trucks and was employed with Clarence Wyatt Transfer Co., Best Products, and retired from Old Dominion Freight.

He was a member of Fourth Baptist Church, where he served as an usher, drove the church bus, and recently joined the Men's Fellowship.

He was a Pass Master of King Solomon Lodge.

He is survived by two daughters, Dr. Marilynn B. and Joyce C. Vaughan, both of Mechanicsville; three sons, Merlin C. Vaughan (Laura) of Chesapeake, Michael A. Vaughan of Woodbridge, and Vernon Vaughan of New Kent; seven grandchildren, Daniel, Cristina, Austin, and Jessica of Chesapeake and Bianca, Barbara, and Vernon of Richmond; one great-grandson, Aiden; one brother, LeRoy Vaughan of Winterpock; one sister, Olivia Crawley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends, one devoted, Lillian Davis.

Remains rested at Carlton T. Brooks Funeral Home, 2200 Hull Street, Richmond, VA 23224. Memorial service was held at 1pm on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at Star Fellowship Baptist Church. Remains were cremated. No viewing.
