Bob Ohnemus, 82, of Milo passed away peacefully Friday, August 23, 2013 at Indianola Good Samaritan Center Nursing Home.

Survivors include: his wife Mary Ann Ohnemus of Milo, four children: Deborah(Mark)Kissinger of Indianola, Jerry(Jennifer)Ohnemus of Carlisle, Randy Ohnemus of Milo, Kevin(Lisa)Ohnemus of Indianola, six grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a sister, Marilyn Watts of Ankeny. He was preceded by his parents and six siblings: Helen Ohnemus, Ethel Quinn, Edna Otte, James, Carl and Marvin Ohnemus.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Milo with Fr. Dean Nimerichter officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 pm at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Milo with a Vigil Service at 7 pm. Interment will be in Belmont Cemetery near Milo. Memorials may be given to the family.
Robert Lewis Ohnemus, age 82, passed away peacefully on August 23 2013 at Indianola Good Samaritan Center in Indianola, Iowa.
Robert was born on September 15 1930 in Warren County Iowa to Germain and Loretta Ohnemus. As a young man he attended Milo School, and then in February 1952 he enlisted in The United States Army. He served his country in Germany for 2 years. Upon discharge of his duties he returned to Milo where he married Mary Ann Wachter on February 27, 1954. After they married Robert and Mary Ann purchased a farm outside of Milo where they have lived happily ever since.
Robert took great pride in their farm, enjoying his livestock and the freedom of living out in the country. In 2006 Robert and Mary Ann were recognized at the Iowa State Fair with the honor of having a Century Farm. In addition Robert was employed by Horner and Waldorf Corporation and also worked for the South East Warren School District. Robert always had a warm welcome for family and friends that stopped by, especially the great grandchildren that loved to fish in the ponds on the property. In his spare time Robert liked hunting and fishing. He was known as a man that always enjoyed lending a helping hand to his family and neighbors.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Mary Ann, his sister Marilyn Watts of Ankeny, children Deborah and Mark Kissinger of Indianola, Jerry and Jennifer Ohnemus of Carlisle, Randy Ohnemus of Milo and Kevin and Lisa Ohnemus of Indianola. Grandchildren Casey and Mikel Hyde of Carlisle, Jason Ohnemus of Des Moines, Anthony Ehlert of Carlisle, Joshua Ohnemus of West Des Moines and Katelynn Oltrogge of Indianola. Robert will also be missed by his great grandchildren Riley Derrickson, Ashliah and Travis Hyde of Carlisle as well as many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Germain and Loretta Ohnemus, his son Larry, sisters Helen Ohnemus, Ethel Quinn, Edna Otte and brothers James Ohnemus, Carl Ohnemus, and Marvin Ohnemus.
Wake services will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday August 26th at Pierschbacher Funeral home in Milo. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday August 27th at 10:30 A.M. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Milo. Interment will be in Belmont Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the family which will be designated at a later date
