Sue Marlar married Baxter B. Batten, with whom she had two daughters. She earned her baccalaureate at the U. of Alabama and her Masters from NYU. After teaching for many years, she became a reading consultant for Memphis City Schools. Sue sang in the choir at First Baptist Church of Memphis, belonged to the Beethoven Club, and loved to garden. The Battens were active players of contract bridge. Sue spent her last days at NHC Place, a nursing facility in Farragut, TN.
