SHEPHERD, Ms. Hazel age 78, of Nashville, Tennessee, formerly of Dayton, was born March 18, 1931 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Newton & Ada (Hendrix) Shepherd. She left this earthly life and went home to be with the Lord, Friday, August 14, 2009.

A graduate of Sinclair Community College, Class of 1983. She was a charter member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and a Sunday School teacher for many years. She has two published poems in the American Collegiate Poem Fall, Concourse 1981 and Fall, 1992.

Preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, William Roy & Robert Lewis Shepherd; 2 sisters, Alice Garside & Katie Mae Burns.

Hazel leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted son, John Kevin Shepherd, of Nashville, TN; 4 sisters, Addie Ruth Troutman, of Hamilton, OH, Annie Lee Jolly & Bessie Harding, both of Dayton, Queen Esther Brown, of Forest Park, OH; a favorite & devoted niece, Mildred Davis; a favorite nephew, Rufus Troutman, both of Dayton,; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held 11 am Friday, August 21, 2009 at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 2067 North Gettysburg Avenue. Rev. Dr. Tommy Byrd, Jr. officiating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, OH. Visitation 9 am Friday at the church until the time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
