Alex Bartkowski, 80, of 713 Lincoln St., Dickson City, died Wednesday at home. He was the husband of the former Lucille Killian. The couple would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary June 14.

Born and educated in Dickson City, son of the late Frank and Antoinette Rolka Bartkowski, he worked for Hudson Coal Co., 7 Up Bottling and Pepsi Cola where he was also president of the Brewery Workers' Union. Prior to retiring he worked for Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.

He was a member of St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City, and its Holy Name Society, and was one of five brothers who had their own basketball team in the 1930s.

The funeral will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the Frank Mazur Funeral Home, 519 Dundaff St., Dickson, City, with Mass at 9:30 in St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City. Interment, parish cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
