Kimber was born to Tim and Carol Athon Wilson. She attended Veritas Christian School and had completed the ninth grade. She played basketball at the school during her seventh, eighth and ninth grade years. She was a member of the River of Fire Church, where her father was pastor. There she was active in the church youth group. Kimber was also a member of the Lawrence Children's Choir in 2004. Survivors include her parents, three sisters, Leticia Garber, Teresa Wilson and Susan Wilson, paternal grandmother, Betty Wilson, and maternal grandparents, Ronalda Athon and Don and Jan Athon. Services were held at 1PM, Monday, August 15, 2005 at Lawrence Free Methodist Church. Her death has shed light on the dangers of playing the game known as "pass out game", "fainting game", "dream game" and "blackout", among others. This game involves getting high by cutting off the air supply in various ways in order to pass out. Kimber was the third teen nationwide to die in this manner in the last few months of her life.
