Carl Monroe Cooper, 84, Lee's Summit, MO, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2003, at his home, from cancer. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 21, at Abbott Funeral Home, Baxter Springs, KS, where visitation will be one hour before services; burial in Spring Valley Cemetery, Tipton Ford, MO. Carl was born March 30, 1918, in Picher, OK. He was a member of the United Association of Journeymen of Pipefitters of U.S. for 39 years. He was also a member of Pipefitters Local Union #533, and retired in 1982. Carl loved fishing and gardening. Carl was preceded in death by his first wife, La Vera (Carpenter) Cooper, in 1986; second wife, Estelle (Martin) Cooper, in 1999; and two sisters, Genevieve Prauser and Esther Campbell. He is survived by his son, Phillip Cooper, Greenwood; grandson, Steve Cooper of Lee's Summit; granddaughter, Christy Martin, Lee's Summit; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Faye Taylor of El Cajon, CA; brother-in-law, Tom Kannady of Valley Center, KS; and many nieces and nephews. Carl will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
