Dewey J. Shoemake July 15, 1930 - November 2, 2010 YUMA, Ariz. - Dewey J. Shoemake, 80, passed away on Nov. 2, 2010, from complications of Parkinson's Disease. He and his wife had resided in Yuma, Arizona, for the past several years. Dewey was born on July 15, 1930, at Skiatook, Okla., and moved with his parents at a young age to Lancaster, Calif., where he graduated from high school. He entered the Air Force in 1951, retiring after 27 years with the rank of Master Sergeant. He served in Vietnam in the Air Force Special Forces. He lived in Salem for many years and worked at the Salem Airport for the flying club until 2001, retiring to travel. He is survived by his wife, Betty; a son, Curtis of Coos Bay, Oregon; daughter, Janis Matthews of Milwaukie, Oregon; two granddaughters, three grandsons and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandson. He will be interred at 10 a.m. November 19th in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland

Dewey is my first cousin. His mother Julia is my fathers sister.
