Dale R. Moburg Swannanoa - Dale R. Moburg, 67, of Swannanoa, passed away June 13, 2013. He fought a 10-month battle with angiosarcoma, a rare cancer. Born in Chicago, Dale graduated from Maine East High School in Park Ridge, IL in 1964 where he met Jean Wilcox, his wife of 44 years. After graduating from Kansas State University in 1968, he joined Procter & Gamble, where he enjoyed a 32-year career in sales and marketing. He retired at 53, and he and Jean moved to the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina, whose beauty brought him joy each day. He mentored countless people in his professional life as well as family and friends because he enjoyed "helping people succeed." Once in Asheville, Dale found a perfect fit with his interest in mentoring at Big Brothers Big Sisters of WNC. He served as a board member and was a committed Big Brother to Alex Adams for 10 years. Dale is preceded in death by his parents, Esther Chindblom Lang, James R. Moburg and John W. Lang Jr. He is survived by his wife, Jean Wilcox Moburg, and daughter Julia Moburg and her partner, Kristina Feliciano, of New York City, and daughter Kirstin Moburg-Davis and her husband, Alexander Brandt Moburg-Davis, of Asheville, and his precious grandchildren, Bergen, 3 ½ years and 11-month old twin boys, Dean and Sascha Moburg-Davis, who brought him great joy during his illness. He is also survived by his sisters: Kim Hanford and her husband, Bob; Donna Lison, and her husband, Phil; and Jill O'Connor and her husband, Kevin. Dale was the proud uncle of Tamara and David, Sarah and Joseph, Colleen and Caroline, and Matthew and Eirik. His ashes will be scattered in the mountains near his home. A private celebration of his life is planned. His family would like to thank Care Partners Hospice for all their loving care during his illness.
