He was born in Stearns, Kentucky on September 30, 1927 the son of the late James Andrew and Rachel (Stephens) Ball. He was a member of the Meadows Grove Baptist Church and a Deacon since 1960. He also had been a Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and actively served from December 1944 to October 1945. He served in North Africa during WWII as a seaman second class and assigned to the LST.147. He was a master brick layer and worked for the Forest Service in the Green Thumb Program.
His parents, one daughter, Linda Lee Ball, seven brothers, Claude Ball, Carl Jack Ball, Estes Ball, Mark Ball, James Andrew Ball, Jr. Ralph Ball, and Darrell Lee Ball, one sister, Millie Barnett and 1 Great Grand Child, Jonathan S. Brown precede him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Dovie Williams Ball; three daughters, Bonita "Bonnie" Elaine Brown, of Stearns, KY, Deborah Sue "Susie" Wilson of Pine Knot, KY; and Jo Anne Davis of Nancy, KY two brothers, Richard Ball of Jamestown, TN and Ronald Dwayne Ball of Pine Knot, KY, two sisters Julia Fay Estes of Cincinnati, OH and Janie Shelley of Stearns, KY, 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren and 3 step great-great grandchildren also survive.
