Sylvester Murduff
The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon of the late Sylvester Murduff from the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Fairbairn,Prospect Street,and was attended by many friends and neighbors. Rev. W.B. Walker of the Lakefield Baptist Church was in charge and spoke words of comfort and cheer to the bereaved family. Two favorite hymns were sung,and the service was a very impressive one in its' dignified simplicity. Interment was made in the Lakefield Cemetery and six grandsons acted as pallbearers: Messrs. Elwood,Stewart, Clare,and Harold Murduff,Ves. O'Donnell,and Sherman Sweeting.
Mr. Murduff had been a resident of the village for fifty years,coming from Belleville to the village,and had made a large circle of friends who appreciated his sterling virtues and his acts of kindness to those with whom he came in contact. Quiet and retiring,he will be very much missed in the community. His wife predeceased him seven years ago. He is survived by one son,William of Peterborough,and four daughters,Mrs. Richard Fairbairn of Lakefield,Mrs. Fred Sweeting and Mrs. Aaron Sweeting of Smith,and Mrs. W. O'Donnell of Peterborough.
