Velma M. Schuett, 84, of Evansville, formerly of Monticello, passed on to meet her Jehovah on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008. She was born on Oct. 19, 1924, in Postville, WI, a daughter of Conrad Jr. and Rosine (Duerst) Elmer. She married Orville A. Anderson in June, 1942 and he preceded her in death in April, 1967. She married Elmer C. Schuett in 1968 and he died in Feb., 1982. Velma was a member of the Celiac Sprue Assoc. She was an avid letter writer and enjoyed quilting, embroidering, crocheting, sewing, collecting recipes, and ceramic chickens.

She had a special love for her family, which includes: three daughters: Lonna (Dennis) Field of Beloit, Barbara (Richard) Unke of Monticello, and Marayne Teal of Crystal Lake, IL; three sons, Charles (Donna Klosterman) Anderson and Richard Anderson, both of Monticello, and Chip (Catherine) Schuett of Evansville; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Sylvan (Dorothy) Elmer of Spring Green, WI; and four sisters, Doris Aebly, Charlotte Tresner, Mabel (Duane) Shippy, all of Monroe, and Carolyn (David) Pederson of Sauk City. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Anderson; a granddaughter, Lisa Michele Field; four brothers, Melvin, Harvey, Vernon, and John Elmer; and two sisters, Elfa Wenger and Irene Neuenschwander.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, with Les Hanson officiating. A visitation was held on Tuesday at the FUNERAL HOME. Burial in Highland Cemetery, Monticello. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund will be established in Velma's name for HospiceCare, Inc., 3001 W. Memorial Dr., Janesville, WI 53548. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Velma's grandson, Dylan Schuett, who helped care for her, and also, HospiceCare, Inc. of Janesville.
