Reverend Richard Mitchell of Jonesboro passed away July 23, 2013. He was an ordained pastor and lived his life leading people to the Lord.
He served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He then retired from Atlantic Southeast Airlines. Reverend Mitchell loved gardening and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his sister Virginia Floyd; brother Archibald Butt Mitchell and brother Alexander Stephens Mitchell Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years Myra Brown Mitchell; daughters Naomi Lynn (Bob) Dickens, Deborah Grace (Mickey) Atkinson, Gail (Billy) Swanson, Sherryl Piner, and Barbara (Ed) McNeely; son Nathan David (Meho); 24 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters Roxanna Fitzpatrick and Betty Jane Hill; brother Calvin Mitchell.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Reverend Hinton Harris will officiate. The burial will follow at Lisbon Baptist Church, Fayetteville.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
