His wife, Lucille (Bemis) Brooks, died in April 2000. Family members include six sons, George W. Brooks, Jr., Windsor NH, John Brooks, Plymouth, MA, Ronald Brooks, Vero Beach, FL, Richard Brooks, Quincy, MA, Kenneth Brooks and Gary Brooks, South Boston; three daughters, Nancy Sassone, Charlestown, MA, Joan Rakes, Plymouth, MA, Patricia Sullivan, Provincetown, MA; 29 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; three sisters, June, Mary and Peewee; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brothers, John, Charlie, Eddie and a sister, Florence McLaughlin.
