George W. Brooks, Sr., 81, died Sunday morning, September 7, 2003, at Epsom Manor after a period of failing health. He was born in Quincy, MA, on Sept. 28, 1921, the son of George H. and Lurlene (Avery) Brooks.

He has resided in the Lakes Region since 1970. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Gene Caroselli Painting Contractor for many years. George was a Navy veteran of World War II.

His wife, Lucille (Bemis) Brooks, died in April 2000. Family members include six sons, George W. Brooks, Jr., Windsor NH, John Brooks, Plymouth, MA, Ronald Brooks, Vero Beach, FL, Richard Brooks, Quincy, MA, Kenneth Brooks and Gary Brooks, South Boston; three daughters, Nancy Sassone, Charlestown, MA, Joan Rakes, Plymouth, MA, Patricia Sullivan, Provincetown, MA; 29 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; three sisters, June, Mary and Peewee; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brothers, John, Charlie, Eddie and a sister, Florence McLaughlin.
