Helen was born in 1905 in Pennsylvania, probably Susquehanna County, to Harris Merton and Helen M. Boxham. By 1920, she and her parents were living in New York state, and in August of 1929 she married her husband, Charles Frederick Gilbert, in Delaware County, NY. By 1940, Helen and Charles had moved to Wadsworth, OH where they would live out their lives. They had one daughter, Jane Ann Gilbert, born in 1943 and died 2008 in Schuyler Co., NY. Helen was a much respected school teacher in Wadsworth City Schools.
