Mrs. Charlotte C. Hardy, aged 91, grand old lady of Scott county, died at the home of her son, Bruce F. hardy, near Lexington, early Sunday morning. "Aunt Charlotte" as she was known to many, was born in Edinburg, Ind., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Bruce, where her parents had come from Dundee, Scotland. When she was still small the family moved to a farm near Lexington, Ind., and she had spent her entire life in this community.
After her marriage in 1894 to the late John A. Hardy, they lived on the Hardy farm six miles east of Scottsburg, where following his death she took an active interest in the managing of the farm. Possessed of a strong constitution and untiring energy, she was always busy until she fractured her hip about 15 years ago. Not satisfied to remain an invalid she broke her hip at two other times in her eagerness to get about the house and to see how the work was progressing. She had been for bedfast for some time and her death resulted from pneumonia.
