BARABOO—John E. Roche, age 83, of Baraboo, died on Friday, January 10, 1992 at his residence. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 29, 1908 the son of John M. and Mary (Larabee) Roche. He married Margaret Ann Nuzum in 1936 and she preceded him in death on July 22, 1977. He married Helen Niles in 1979 and she preceded him in death in 1987. Mr. Roche worked for many years as a construction inspector for the Corps of Engineers-Department of the Navy, retiring in 1974. During his lifetime, he helped in the construction of the Hoover Dam and the first large scale nuclear plant in Pasco, Washington. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was also preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Robert Brown in 1980, and Earl Egler in 1991. Mr. Roche is survived by a son, John M. (Dot) Roche of Madison; four daughters, Margaret "Peggy" Ann (William) McDunnough of Fenton, Michigan, Patricia Brown Egler of Baraboo, Kathleen "Sue" (Edward) Terry of Madison, and Nancy (Jerald) Schneider of Baraboo; 14 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 16, 1992 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
