William Lloyd Cannon, 75, of South River, went to meet his Heavenly Father Monday, July 15, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was a christian and loved God with his whole heart. He was a loving husband to his wife Nancy of 52 1/2 years, and a wonderful Daddy to his children Gary and Debbie. He was born to William B. Cannon and Vera E. Cannon January 26, 1938. He graduated from Beaufort High School in 1956. After graduation he went to work at Cherry Point MCAS where he attended apprentice school for four of his 34 years with the government before retiring, on April 3, 1991. After retiring from the government he started his second career by founding Cannon Seafood with his son, Gary. He was taught by two of the best, his father and father in-law, and passed this knowledge to his son Gary and grandson Brandon, who he worked with until this summer when William became sick. William also helped organize and develop the South River Rescue Squad. He served as chief for 23 years. He lived his life for God and his family. He was much loved by his wife, children, grandchildren, and his great grandchild Lil' Brayden, as called by his Papa.

He will be greatly missed by his wife and children, but he promised to be waiting for them in Heaven.

He was preceded in death by his parents William B. Cannon and Vera Eubanks Cannon, and brother in-law Charlie Wallace. He was also preceded by parternal grandparents William Lindsey and Aurie Dixon Cannon and maternal grandparents Luther Lloyd Eubanks, Sr. and Ruth Hardy Eubanks.

Will, was not only my nephew, but also my best friend since we could remember. He was the finest man I have ever known with a great wife and family.
