She will be laid to rest at Abshire Cemetery in Meaux with Reverend Kenneth Mayne officiating the services. Music will be provided by Lance Castro. Pallbearers will be Cameron Francis Libersat, Michael Keith Libersat, Rickey Cessac Jr., Mark Cavalier Sr., Kimble Dupuy and John Howard Schexnaider Jr.
Mrs. Edna was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and was a volunteer at Abbeville General for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years John Schexnaider Sr.; two daughters, Melanie G. Cavalier and Donna G. Libersat; two step-sons, John Howard Schexnaider Jr. and John Scott Schexnaider; one brother, Robert Castro and sister in law Jeanette Castro; six grandchildren, Rickey Cessac Jr., Christine Renee C. Broussard, Sarah L. Lemaire, Katie Elizabeth Libersat, Cameron Francis Libersat and Michael Keith Libersat; six great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Francis Gaspard; two sons, Gordon Mark Gaspard and Francis Paul Gaspard; her parents, Albert Castro and the former Arsene Simon; two brothers, Sidney Castro and Harry Castro; and five sisters Rosella C. Frederick, Euna C. Frederick, Louella C. Baudoin, Lillian C. Gaspard and Anna Mae C. Landry; a nephew, Frederick Kern Alleman; and one niece, Jamie Landry Broussard.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Sunday, July 14, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Monday July 15, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
