Motion picture actor, director, writer and producer. A pioneer of silent pictures, he acted in nearly 80 films from 1911 to 1916. He shifted to the other side of the camera, helming more then fifty pictures from 1914 to 1925. His directorial credits included ""The Scarlet Pimpernel" (1917), "Why America Will Win' (1918), "Checkers" (1919), the Marguerite Clayton starring "Bride 13" (1920, a 15-chapter serial), and "American Pluck" (1925). He died of prostate cancer at his home at 12715 Ventura Blvd in Los Angeles at age 79.
