The funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 2 pm in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel in Greenville. Burial will follow in Chapman's Cemetery in Vanceboro.
Mrs. Burroughs, a native of Pitt County, was a lifelong resident of Greenville. For many years, she was involved in babysitting at her home. An avid gardener, she enjoyed sewing and spending time with family and friends, and was a former member of Chapman's United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cedric Willis Burroughs; and a son, James Arthur Burroughs.
She is survived by her: sons, Cedric Willis Burroughs, Jr. and wife, Cathy, of Winterville and Lester Wayne Burroughs, of Greenville;
granddaughters, Samantha Stone and husband, Rocky and Hayley Briley and husband, Chris; and
great-grandson, Fletcher Stone; and sister, Pearlie C. Strickland, of Washington.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home
